  • What to bring to your portrait session

Not quite sure what to pack for your portrait photoshoot? These are my best tips for things to bring to ensure everything goes smoothly on the day! Extra Outfit options Bring a few different clothing options for each person/family member in case of disaster or to add some variety. With spare outfit options, you can easily adjust to changes in weather or fix up any unexpected stains. Comfortable shoes Opt for shoes that are comfortable for walking and standing, particularly for outdoor shoots (think wedges or dressy flats for the ladies, smart casual shoes for the men) - blisters are never fun! Hair and makeup touch ups Bring hair brushes, hair spray, pins and any makeup touch-up products, especially if you will be shooting for a long time. Emergency pack It's always a good idea to pack Panadol, bandaids, baby wipes and tissues so you're prepared whatever happens. Props Depending on the theme of your photoshoot, bring props such as blankets, toys, or flowers that can be used to add interest to your photos. Snacks and drinks If you're shooting for a long time or with young children, bring snacks and drinks to keep everyone happy and energised. Sunscreen and bug spray If you're shooting outdoors, be sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray to protect yourself from the elements (particularly after rain or in lush areas). Enthusiasm Above all else, bring a positive and relaxed attitude to your photoshoot. If you're comfortable and having fun, your photos will reflect your this!

  • Paige & Ruan | Rosslyn Bay Marina, Yeppoon pet-friendly Maternity Session

When it comes to beach photos, wind is usually the trickiest thing to work around! Luckily Yeppoon has been very kind to me lately, with amazing weather and next to no wind for the most part. This was only topped off by the fact that I got to catch up with Paige & Ruan (and little Brandy) again - this time capturing some maternity photos as they get ready to welcome their little girl!

  • The Williamson Family | The Orchard Yeppoon Family Session

Often the story behind the image is just as important as the photo itself, and I always love incorporating sentimental touches at my shoots. These are the perfect example, taken for the Williamson family in the same spot at The Orchard Yeppoon where they married 3 years ago! It was such an honour to photograph Dee & Thomas again having captured their wedding, newborn photos for Spencer, family photos and now extended family again as they welcome little Marnie to the world.

  • THE SKORIC FAMILY | ROCKHAMPTON MATERNITY & NEWBORN SESSIONS

Combined maternity and newborn session memories for the beautiful Skoric family, taken just a few weeks apart - I love how seamlessly these two sessions blend together, and of course the addition of little Eleanor! I have documented all of Jess & Mark's biggest milestones from their engagement session to now as a family of four, and I am so grateful to have been part of these moments.

  • SAVANNAH | ROCKHAMPTON RIVERBANK SCHOOL FORMAL SESSION

If you've seen the riverbank and alleyways on a formal day, you might be wondering how we took Savannah's images with no-one else around... well, we took them a month before formal (except for a few quick images with her partner taken on the day)! Booking your session ahead of time is a great way to reduce the stress of school formal days, line up your HMU trial to make the most of it and get some photos without such a strict timeframe. Vendors: TMF Cake Designs, Becca Smith Makeup Artist, Precision Engraving & Laser Cutting, Victoria's Loft, Chez Alicia.

  • MIA & TYLER | ROCKHAMPTON CBD SCHOOL FORMAL SESSION

Each of my school formal clients will get a questionnaire to fill out with details about the afternoon, and this is why! Having an idea of Mia & Tyler's outfits and schedule meant I could have plan ready for their photos - stress free timing, locations scouted and matched to their styling. Having said that, these two certainly made my job easy!

  • BROOKE & DAVE | ST AUBINS VILLAGE, ROCKHAMPTON GARDEN WEDDING

It might have been two years later than planned after Brooke & Dave's original date was wiped out by COVID, but they're finally Mr. & Mrs. Buchanan! This was such a gorgeous day celebrating a long-awaited marriage, and made even better with a cracker team of vendors working behind the scenes. Thank goodness I got through it with an ear infection and only hearing properly from one side, but it just goes to show I'm committed to be with you capturing your special day! • HAYLEY & SEBASTIAN | THE HAVEN, EMU PARK BEACH WEDDING

"Maddy is absolutely amazing! She captured the most precious moments at our wedding, I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants a fun, bubbly photographer who makes you feel comfortable. The photos turned out better than I ever could have imagined! Absolute perfection!" Hayley & Sebastian left me this lovely review recently, and I'm so glad it encapsulates exactly what I aim to achieve as a wedding photographer. You can't create beautiful images unless you feel relaxed being photographed, so I put a lot of effort into making sure everyone enjoys themselves while coordinating your photography. Add in a calm day beside the ocean, dreamy pastel sunset, beautiful styling and the most relaxed, fun wedding party that combined to make Hayley & Sebastian's wedding a photographer's dream to capture! Vendors: The Haven, Emu Park, Creations by Katerina Forever, White Lily Couture, Danielle Hempseed - Marriage Celebrant, Danielle Ford Makeup Artist, POLITIX, Creative Cater, CQ Party Hire.

  • ALEX & DAN | HERON ISLAND, GREAT BARRIER REEF DESTINATION WEDDING

What a day to get married on Heron Island! Having met through mutual friends in the wakeboarding scene, it seemed only fitting that Alexandra & Daniel celebrated their wedding by the water's edge. With 45 of their nearest and dearest watching on they said 'I do', then treated their guests to an afternoon cocktail before we wandered the island taking photos as the sun set. Planning a wedding between work, study and travel is no easy feat, but Alex & Dan did it flawlessly - thank you for the privilege of asking me along to capture your special day, congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Clark! Vendors: Celebrant Cindy, Flossie Collective, Simply Chic Hair Studio, more TBC.
